Waiting Colored

I felt like I had to color something, since I haven't in quite some time

So I decided to color this one, mostly because I wanted the bg practice and this seemed like a good specimen for that.
I hardly get any practice with bgs, because I hate doing them,
but I obviously need it. ;D

Those green things in the bg are supposed to be trees by the way

Anyway, this could have been better, but it could have been worse ^^
As far as the people are concerned, my color choices kind of bother me, especially with Hatori and Samura's clothing. I think I need to choose less-bright colors, since I draw with a more anime/manga style. Bright colors are usually more associated with western art, I believe (even though I am an American, heheh)

The character's names are Hatori, Samura, and Merith, all of which belong to yours truly.

Hatori and Merith are fraternal twins. They're really close, but they tend to argue a lot, especially during this stage in their life when they're starting to get interested in girls, specifically a certain elf-maiden in particular ;D

So the story I came up with for this is that they were taking a hike and then Hatori tried being all lovey-dovey with Samura. This put Merith in a bad mood and caused him to sulk and glare because he's jealous since he doesn't even have a girlfriend.

Samura secretly likes Merith, but is too scared to tell him, so she's sad because Merith thinks her and Hatori are dating.

Meanwhile, Hatori's depressed because his own brother seems to hate him right now and Samura won't return Hatori's feelings.

Now, no one wants to have fun on their hike anymore D:
So they decided to rest for a bit. Even though no one's really tired, except maybe Merith, because he's a bit weak physically, but he tries not to let it show. They're waiting in hopes that they'll be able to cool down and have fun again. Awkwardly they're waiting in silence for someone, or something, to break the tension.
