Literature Text

Weary faces, their skins darkened and stained after days of blistering under the sun, look upon the bloodied field both in victory and in mourning.
Filling the sky after a scorching battle, the sun rises, a dazzling eye peering over gloomy hills and salty waters.
Light's reflection is painted on the waves tracing the horizon of a tainted ocean.
Leaves from palm trees blow freely in the wind, serenely unaware of life's more bitter tastes.
Hazy eyes, drained of all life, stare upwards as storm clouds drift slowly overhead.
Birds and butterflies, knowing nothing of war, retreat to their havens, soaring on to happier places.
Under the earth, men are buried, their loved ones come, bearing tiny flowers in their memory.
The idea here was to make a poem describing each of the colors in a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. However, you couldn't say the word "color" or any of the colors names (I don't think I did... maybe I should double check. lol).

Well since I love irony, I thought it would be interesting to do something dark, you know since people usually consider rainbows to be bright, happy, and cheerful. So thus the title "The Darkest Rainbow". And my theme is based on war. I was thinking about that beach-battle that took place in that new Robin Hood movie while writing it ^^

So let me know what you guys think : )

The idea for this poem was given to me by :iconfreefallingballoon:
